About Me

I live in Austin, Texas, and recently returned after nine months traveling and working in New Zealand. I love people and learning about them. Couchsurfing has given me some of the best conversations, best people, and best food. It is a tool with the potential to change the world...if only, right?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

"A conversation is a dialogue, not a monologue. That's why there are so few good conversations: due to scarcity, two intelligent talkers seldom meet." I think Truman Capote would have been quite the Couchsurfer.

Interests

Writing, reading, running, walking, thinking, talking about social issues, learning more about social issues, trying new brews or wine, food, meeting new people, the Texas Longhorns, laughing a lot, telling people to get a real problem when they complain about nonsensical things.

Teach, Learn, Share

"Any place you don't leave is a prison." -From the movie "Liberal Arts"

I'll be the first one to say my family rocks and I freaking love them. Seriously, my parents are my best friends. And I absolutely love where I'm from and could probably be content staying there for the rest of my life. But, at the same time, I love trying new things and I love exploring. Which can absolutely conflict with my yearning to be close to my family. The world is too big and too amazing to feel satisfied by sitting somewhere called "home" because it's comfortable. I like being uncomfortable and I love growing and learning and meeting. I could type about this for hours.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation and a lot of laughter. Probably a few high fives.
