Music, Movies, and Books
As of now...
Tunes:
— I'm boppin' to lots of Renaissance by Bey, Peggy Gou, Rex Orange County, Anderson Pakk, Amber Mark, and Clairo these days. Love r&b, chill hop, bedroom pop, EDM.
— I'm down for pretty much anything, but I am kinda hesitant towards twangy country music...
— One of my all-time favorites: Waiving to Ryan (The Rolling Waves/The North Star/Sean Ryan's Jig). One sunny day, I'd like to play this as I bike around Ireland or Scotland.
Movies:
— World of Tomorrow is my go-to whenever I need something grounding and humbling.
— Studio Ghibli films, Salt/Fat/Acid/Heat (that's truly awakened a cooking bone deep inside), and documentaries.
TV:
— The Office, Community, The Sopranos, Mindhunter, Rick & Morty, Avatar the Last Airbender, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Over the Garden Wall, Parasyte, Hilda, Big Mouth. (Lots of animation, as you can see.)
— Life is pretty cool outside so I try not to watch too much TV…but the opposite was true during COVID, so I’ve watched WAY too much in the past two years!
Books:
— Wretched of the Earth by Frantz Fanon
— Set Boundaries, Find Peace by Nedra Glover Tawwab
— The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
Hobbies:
— Roller skating & roller derby
— Concerts
— Dancing…So. Much. Dancing!
— Loving my friends and making memories with them
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Somehow ended up with lifelong friends that are, more accurately, family.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach:
I've been playing the piano since I was 7, so I know a few things about music theory and tickling keys. I'm pretty good at statistics and I kinda geek out whenever I talk about it. Same goes for sustainability and social equity.
Learn:
Teach me; educate me; fill my head with rational, sound conclusions, the believable and unbelievable, wild stories and imaginations, anything and everything. I'm all ears.
Share:
Aside from making bomb Filipino dishes, I have a repertoire of the internet's best cat videos.
