About Me

Hello :)

I am a Canadian. I grew up Ottawa, went to university in Peterborough, lived in Canterbury, England and then Orleans, France and most recently I moved to Halifax, Canada! I am still learning French, I am not perfect yet but I hope to get better!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couchsurfing because I think it's a great way to meet new people, I joined when I was an au pair in France. I look forward to meeting new people any chance I can get. My friend recommended couchsurfing to me when she traveled around Europe one summer and she had such an amazing time doing it.

For travelers: I understand that CS is all abut meeting new people and getting to know them and sharing cultures, but sometimes I understand you are exhausted or not overly social and do not want to spend too much time with their host and I want to let all travelers know that I recognize this and I am fine with it as long as respect and politeness are still present :) I am excited to welcome travelers into my home and show them around or help them decide what to see!

Interests

Travelling is high on my interests list for sure! I love to visit places and get lost in new cities and wander until I find my bearings. Getting to meet people and seeing how new places are the same and how they are different from my home really interests me!!

I was a competitive dance for 16 years and now that I'm an "adult" I miss it so so much. I've always wondered what my life would be like if I continued with it.

I am a sporty person but I recently had knee surgery and I am only just starting to play softball and ultimate Frisbee again, soccer will come back later. In the meantime, I have been walking and hiking a lot which is great for travelling and seeing cities. Before I got hurt I played competitive soccer/football, Ultimate frisbee, softball, and occasionally volleyball.

I absolutely LOVE playing around with special effects makeup (you know the movie type with blood everywhere?), If you are interested in seeing some just let me know :)

I have recently picked up an interest for writing, I hated it all throughout university but now that I am not forced or given due dates I am more inclined to enjoy it.

Most of all, I have an interest in talking to new people. Whether it's only for one day or it blooms into a long friendship I am very happy to have conversations with people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy many different types of music but you can usually find me listening to 70s and 80s pop and rock or some jazz if I'm trying to focus. My current favourite book genre is mystery.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time I got lost in Venice and stumbled across Ron Howard and Tom Hanks filming for the 3rd Da Vinci Code . I took a selfie with tom hanks while he was acting... not something I did per say but a cool thing that happened to me!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn about new cultures and would be very happy to teach people about mine! I would also like to practice French and would enjoy helping people with English.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my enthusiasm for travelling! I can also share my joy of cooking.
