About Me
ABOUT ME
I grew up in a small town called Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island on the west coast of Canada. I made my way to Vancouver, BC and recently graduated with a degree in Geography and International Relations. I have worked and travelled in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.I love new experiences and immersing myself in different cultures. You can often find me on a bike, cooking, and camping or hiking in BC’s coastal mountains. I love a good book,a good laugh, and good conversation. Spontaneous adventures, painting, and kitchen dance parties are some of my favourites, and I really, really like maps. Although I don't play an instrument I'm always keen to join in and sing, albeit poorly. Recently I've got into rock climbing and I quite like our relationship. I am very interested in the relationship of the built and natural environment and am fascinated by the world we live in. I've worked and traveled in North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. I spent last year in Durban, South Africa as a Communications and Community Outreach Project officer for the city's sustainable planning division. I'm fun, easy-going and respectful...and I'm now living in Tasmania!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I created an account some time ago and although I've unofficially hosted and only couch surfed 'officially' once, I'm just starting in the couchsurfing community.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couch surfed once but I'm excited and ready to be part of the community! I'm looking forward to seeing places with people who are from or live in the places I'm visiting, and hope to have a mutual fun and enriching experience.

Music, Movies, and Books
BOOKS:
Right now I'm reading Happy City: Transforming Our Lives Through Urban Design by Charles Montgomery. Nelson Mandela's autobiography is on my night table. The last book I bought was Kafka's The Metamorphosis and other stories. The most interesting book I have read is Mikhail Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita.
I tend to read more historical fiction than anything, but I am generally happy with any good read.
MOVIES:
The last movie I watched was a South African film, Tsotsi. The last movie I saw in theatres was The Hobbit, and the next movie I would like to see is The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
I enjoy comedy, adventure, drama, classics and documentaries.
MUSIC:
Anything soul, Arcade Fire, or Cold Specks are on repeat right now.
