ABOUT ME
Well, this is the weird part... I enjoy the color green, inappropriate science mnemonic devices, conquering mountains, orbit sweetmint gum, taking pictures of epic mid-air jumps, painty looking sunsets, and laughing at videos of cats from my computer while procrastinating for physiology exams.
I studied abroad in Florence, Italy in Fall 2011, and my life has never been the same! I love exploring new places, meeting new people, new smells, new eats, new stories. My next big adventure was in December/January when I traveled through China to do volunteer work as an intern with a non-profit, to do heart screenings on children in villages of Yunnan. While I was there, I (along with a team of 22 interns) screened over 27,000 children for heart murmurs in 3 weeks. We found 70 children with surgery needs, and this experience was life-changing to be apart of.
I am very passionate about non-profit, community service works in the health care field. I hope to one day work in health clinics overseas and spend my free time traveling, hiking more mountains, and eating weird bug dishes.
PHILOSOPHY
"Never doubt a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead.
This past year, I have been dabbling with activism and world-change involvement. Over spring break, I went to Washington DC and lobbied for an act to promote primary care doctors in the US. I've also have been highly involved in on-campus change, and wrote a petition last December to increase the operating hours in the library (yes super nerdy I know.. I advocated for more study time). BUT I was successful here, and have been encouraged to continue on this road to passionate world-change, and hope to leave this world a better place than I left it!
"The more comfortable you are with being uncomfortable, the better off you are."
I love challenging myself and pushing on to experience new things outside my comfort zone. I am currently a student working on going to medical school to be a doctor, and have a huge list of things on my bucket list that I can't wait to check off!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have never hosted anyone, or couch surfed before. I have heard some good references from traveling friends, so I hope I am able to make more through this community!
I promise I will be super clean, make my bed, and leave the house when you go to work!
Also, I think that it is important to remember the concept "pay it forward." I do not feel comfortable staying with a host and not being a hospitable guest.
If allowed, I would love to cook dinner or breakfast for my host (my treat!) as a small thanks for their friendly accommodation. As a college student, I do not have a huge budget, but I am happy to treat a friend. :)
Interests
Traveling! (Of course!), art, history, culture, etc. I really like outdoor activities, especially hiking. I like travel photography, animals, and anything scenic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I can thing of now is of hiking and biking in the Swiss Alps! I absolutely loved the scenery and the people there. It is such a beautiful country.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love sharing stories! When I studied abroad in Italy, I had so many great adventures. I hope to make new memories in China. I can help teach English to children or help you practice yours. I have been learning Mandarin in school for a few years but still need a lot of practice. I would love to get conversational in Mandarin!
