About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore and to meet as many people as I can!

ABOUT ME

I enjoy travelling - every summer I try to get away for a long period of time. I try and experience as much as I can with my student loan! Difficult, but I enjoy myself, and so I'm happy. I spend most of my life in various cocktail bars, which I find is a great way to meet new and interesting people! In the future I'd love to work abroad - I find that I get itchy feet every new months, so I'm thinking about doing conservation law in Southern Africa.

I love new people, pubs, wine, beer, sunsets (and the occasional sunrise when I'm not being a lazybones!), stories, laughing and new opportunities.

PHILOSOPHY

Often it seems like I have an infinite amount of time ahead of me, so a lazy day on the couch seems innocent, but when that lazy day turned into several lazy weeks a few years ago I suddenly realised that I had to do more, so now I try to (though I still enjoy the odd lazy day!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to CS. I intend to use it as often as possible when travelling, and hope to be able to host whenever I'm needed. I'm a little off the beaten track, but that's where you meet the most interesting people!

I've just finished up at Oxford which has a great CSing community, but I wasn't able to host, which sucked. Can do now though, so let the fun begin!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Nothing on the hosting/surfing side (YET - we all have to start somewhere, don't we!) but hoping to get stuck in this summer (2013) - I'll update you fine folks as I go along.

Loved meeting up with the community in Oxford, and joining a random meeting in Salamanca last summer - I was taken to a GREAT bar with fantastic live music.

Interests

I do taekwondo - I'm a red belt, though slightly (cough, quite) out of practice. I also play piano. Other than that I'm often at my happiest in a bar, having conversations that revolve around travel, politics, philosophy, or a combination of all three!
Talk to me about your experiences, there's too much to see and do before we die, so I love to hear about things that I may (or may not) get a chance to do!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Madagascar (1&2) and Hot Fuzz are my favourites, but I'll watch (pretty much) anything once.
Music: Pretty much anything. I listen to a fair amount of classical music, but also enjoy folk, rock, indie, and heavy rock/metal. I went to see Rammstein in Feb12, and they were fantastic! E.g. In my car the other day, within a space of an hour I'd listened to Beethoven, ABBA, America, Frank Turner, Bill Haley and His Comets and Beyonce!
Books: I always try to have one novel and one non-fiction book on my bedside table. I've just finished rereading The Hobbit and Isolarion (detailing the history of the Cowley Rd in Oxford). Next book? Not sure, currently working my way through a Buddhist motorbike magazine - very intriguing! Ask me about it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

ONE THING?! Either I've been very lucky or am easily pleased, 'cos I'd class loads of my experiences as amazing! I hosted a pool party the other night - IT WAS EPIC.
Ok, something else? Tracking lions on horseback in South Africa.
But I don't want to spoil the stories, I'll tell you about the rest of my experiences when we meet!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love talking to people about politics. Often discussions are far from in-depth, but I like discussing why societies have developed as they have, and how things may change in the future. Often, when someone's passionate about their interests I tend to want to learn from them! Hence, I have a massive list of things and activities that I'd like to try or do in the future. Examples? Skydiving, Cheese-rolling at Cooper's Hill (GOOGLE IT), dancing, improving my French, AND THE LIST CONTINUES!
