About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be true to myself

ABOUT ME

Its hard to pin point what Im all about. I mean really, Im trying to figure that one out myself. I guess I'd like to describe myself as someone who is wonderfully weird. I like living a bit differently and taking roads less traveled by, and can often be caught day dreaming. I love to laugh and be carefree; Spontaneity is a must in life. However, life wouldn't be as colorful if we didn't have contradictions. As laid back as I am, Im also a planner and all about organization. I secretly love making lists. How can one be both you ask? Well basically the spontaneity in me is when I wake up one morning and out of the blue, I book a plane ticket for my next adventure. Then the "Monica Gellar" in me takes over and plans the crap out of my upcoming adventure!

Honestly the best way to get to know me is to just strike up a conversation and determine yourself what I'm all about.

PHILOSOPHY

I have my own views and beliefs in life but above all I try to follow the rules of kindness, compassion, respect, and community.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING/ COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was first introduced to Couchsurfing through a friend who had CS'd her way through Europe and has since hosted many CS's at her home.

My first experience with Couchsurfing was during my travels through Europe. I found it a great way to meet locals and to get the inside scoop on places to go and things to do. Even if it was something as simple as a great running loop.

I hope that when I settle down (hopefully still in a distant future) I will have the ability to host other CS's and help them to explore the area to its fullest extent.

Interests

I have a love for many things. Obviously I have a love of travel (otherwise I wouldn't be here). I made a decision during my first international travels alone that I would dedicate a minimum of three weeks a year to traveling to somewhere new. Luckily I have been able to achieve more than those three weeks since then and have been happily transversing across the world. I love being active, playing sports like soccer or being outdoors hiking, snowboarding, and rock climbing. I grew up being involved in the arts, mainly being involved in theater (both on and off the stage). I love good food whether I'm cooking or enjoying another's cooking. And of course with good food one must enjoy a good glass of wine followed by after-meal tea. I do my best to try new things and push my boundaries to enjoy new experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I have an appreciation for all times of music. From country to rock, from folk to pop, I listen to pretty much all types of genres. I don't know exactly makes me tick regarding music, all I know is if I hear a song that makes feel any emotion (happy, sad, fired-up, etc.) it is a must on my i-pod.

Movies: I LOVE a good movie. Just like my taste in music I have a broad taste in movies. I would say I my first choice is always for a good comedy as I love to laugh, but I still enjoy a well written/acted drama... or anything with really awesome fight scenes and big explosions! If anyone caught the reference above you will know that I am a hardcore fan of Friends.

Books: I enjoy a good book, however I'm really terrible at exploring libraries/shops for new ones. I really rely on my friends to advise me on the next book I should read. My all time favourite story though is The Hobbit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

How can I choose just one thing?

I have danced in the rain on a beach with 10,000 people, hiked an active volcano at 2am to watch the sunrise, dove a WW2 wreck and listened to Humpback whales singing underwater, bungee jumped from 122m, swam in the highest navigable lake and these are just to name a few.

Oh, and I rappel (abseil) about of helicopters for a living.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a pretty good cook and would be happy to offer great conversation over a delicious meal, served with a side of wine.
