About Me
5/6/16-- Hello Nantucket surfers! I am sorry for not updating sooner, but I moved back to Portland awhile ago. Good luck on your search and please give that island a kiss from me :)
CURRENT MISSION
Knit everyone I love a pair of socks.
ABOUT ME
24 year old artist from a small town in Connecticut transplanted to Portland, OR. Somewhere in the middle of a miserable college experience I realized that I didn't want a comfortable job at the expense of my soul (trivia: I worked as a theme park character in high school and it was probably the best job I have ever had). I finished my studies, bicycled across the US with an amazing nonprofit (www.bikeandbuild.org), and took my first real job as a wardrobe hand in a traveling circus. I've since left the job for other opportunities (making tiny costumes for a stop-motion animation film studio in Portland and production hand weaving on an island off of Cape Cod among them), but have continued the momentum of living intentionally. I want to meet good people, move through good places, and return any bit of that goodness that I can... and maybe cook you dinner. Let's be friends-- call me Brit.
PHILOSOPHY
I want to quote something dramatic like "You don't save your soul just painting everything white" but I'm honestly not sure I can answer this seriously in a few words without making myself laugh

Music, Movies, and Books
For books, almost ANYTHING by Kurt Vonnegut but also: Joseph Heller, "Catch-22", Ana Castillo "So Far From God", Mikhail Bulgakov "The Master and Margarita", Roberto Bolaño, Haruki Murakami... so, so many but I do gravitate toward the magical realists and absurdists.
I'm still waiting to grow out of my punk phase of music and will forever love the Clash-- but also love TV on the Radio, Santigold, The Rapture and the like.
Movies: The Fall (swoon!), Blade Runner, The Life Aquatic, Spirited Away
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I biked across the United States with 32 strangers-turned-family as soon as I graduated... but I also once held a hummingbird in the palm of my hand.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love, love, love to learn how to communicate in more languages and am hoping the immersion will help. I can teach you to sew, knit, and make soup-- Grandma 101 :)
