About Me
Hello! I make noises that sound like words sometimes. That’s important to know.
I'm a pretty goofy person that's consistently on the prowl for dopamine. I love laughter. I'm a jack-of-all-trades in many ways, but I primarily work in education. Aspiring social psychologist. Certified life coach. When it comes to friends, I love authenticity and genuineness. Bring me your bare self (please, not literally) and I will not judge you. Let's get deep! Or however deep you're comfortable with :)
I'm basically vegan. I do eat eggs from my friend's chickens or chickens that are treated well. I generally avoid added sugar and restaurants but will indulge in either on occasion. I have a pretty bad sugar fixation, and it has ruined my body in multiple ways at various points in my life, so if I say no to added sugar I would absolutely appreciate that being respected.
I don’t mind if you drink alcohol, but I will not partake.
I thought I was going to be a vet or a zoologist when I was a kid but now I paint and draw animal heads on human bodies instead. I’ve loved animals since infancy. My art helps me incorporate my love for them into my personal philosophies and self-expression.

Writing out my life experiences helps me reflect on who I am and where I'm going. I have a blog but be warned: It's not always for the faint of heart. I've made people cry--Muahaha! Here is the link:

I have a dog--he goes by Huckleberry. You are likely to meet him at the same time as me because his separation anxiety leaves him fearful of leaving my side for the time being. He does bay (bark/howl), which I endearingly call boweling. He is very loud and can be intimidating to some but is otherwise harmless. If you’re able to crouch for him and have no problem with me putting my hand on your shoulder, it will accelerate the amount of time it takes for him to warm up to you. Otherwise, he's a monk, guard dog, and professional cuddler all in one. Just an all-around sweet guy--with bowel problems!
Other names people call me: Skunk, Spencer, Tumbleweed, Field Dweller
I’m not interested in dating—I only feel this is necessary to mention because I’ve had a couple of kind men inquire after meeting up in town or hanging out at crashes. Better to be up front so nobody even has to ask.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because it's amazing and I've already met some amazing people even as a newbie. I have CPTSD (Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) turned PTG (Post-Traumatic Growth). So far I see CS as a fantastic way to challenge myself and some irrational fears that linger from my upbringing. Reconfiguring that amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex! People everywhere are wonderful and have so much to offer through camaraderie regardless of how lasting our connections are.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really love music of almost all kinds, especially jazz, punk, art rock, and indie folk. My favorite music is anything with Britt Daniel in it—either on his own, the Divine Fits, or especially Spoon. I also love Mindchatter.
I don’t watch pretty much anything anymore. I don’t have any streaming subscriptions. I wouldn’t mind watching something in the company of others. My favorite films from childhood would be Labyrinth with David Bowie and Drop Dead Fred. My favorite reads are various works by Jack London, Frank McCourt, Sylvia Plath, and The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Accidentally co-founded an app.
Been exploring the country since I was 6
Was adopted at 17.
Reached PTG (Post-Traumatic Growth)
Converted an old 2005 Sprinter into my new off-grid home on wheels!

Teach me anything you're passionate about. I love listening to passionate people. I can teach you a thing or two about mental wellness and chicken impressions. Tell me your mood and we'll run with whatever.
