ABOUT ME

This is one of my favorite songs and it pretty much sums up my life. My name is Brittny Jackson, but most people call me Habibi. I am a firm believer in music. I believe in music the way that some people believe in fairytales. I don't eat or wear animals because they're my friends. I'm not your typical Molly Mormon. I can't stay in the same place for too long because I'm addicted to change; it's my drug of choice these days. I think jumping out of planes is exhilarating but I'm terrified of the dark. I prefer my headphones and a journal over conversation - it's not because I'm rude, just socially awkward. Before I die, I would like to have cupcakes and lemonade with Shane Claiborne and Brandt Russo. I believe that every girl should be treated like a princess. I only believe in two seasons: summer and almost summer. I run two companies - Open Our Eyes (www.ooecommunity.com) and Band Aid Records (www.bandaidrecords.com) and own a clothing line: Bad Reputation Apparel (www.badreputationapparel.com).

I'm not currently able to host, but through this site I have hosted people on three different occasions. Outside of this site, I have hosted countless bands. Now that I'm hitting the road myself, I look forward to using this site in that respect.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in a week long internship in Florida and met fourteen girls who changed my life forever. Within forty eight hours of knowing each other, we all gathered around in a circle and poured our souls. Many of us shared things we'd never shared with anyone before. Most importantly, we all listened and understood... that's all you can really ask from a friend.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm in the process of learning to appreciate the world around me through a nikon. I'm still in the newborn stage so I would love for someone to help me grow.

I started a community called Open Our Eyes [www.ooecommunity.com] based on the idea that loneliness is the number one cause of death among teens and young adults. This can be stopped by genuine love through the open arms of community. I would love to share this with everyone I encounter.
