Über mich

I'm a television producer, living back and forth between Los Angeles and New York City. I have one of those lives that seems super glamorous on the outside - but don't let that fool you! ;) I never sleep; I work for 12-15 hours per day; I'm constantly on the road and forced to eat fast food; I make super impossible things come together on a tv screen; and I can't ever plan a trip more than a week in advance (I'll go ahead and apologize now for my, probably, last-minute request).

Travel is my escape from an overly hectic life, and I NEVER miss an opportunity to see a new place!

Because I'm constantly on the move, "home" for me has been Charlotte, Los Angeles, New York City, London, Oslo, and Naples (with multiple intra-city moves mixed in). If I'm being completely honest, having SO many homes actually makes nothing REALLY feel like home. It's a strange feeling of displacement, yet attachment to so many places. Super interesting to discuss.

I'm an avid explorer with a love for culture and language. I'm into tea-tasting, politics, prison-reform, paleo nutrition, and anything Scandinavian.

Because I know you'll ask - I 1000% prefer New York City over Los Angeles. I'd be happy to tell you all the reasons why, when we meet! ;)

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I truly believe that there is NO better way to understand a place--its culture, its people, its issues and triumphs--than by staying with a LOCAL!

As strange as it sounds, one of my favorite things to do while traveling is go to the grocery store. You can learn so much about the region you're visiting in the grocery store! What's front and center in the store? What do people flock to? Which produce is readily available and fresh? What are the most popular drinks? What items are considered "luxury" or marked up? What are most people grabbing to put in their baskets? What kind of sweets do they like? Are they multi-cultural? Etc etc etc.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I came to Norway for the first time during the summer of 2013, as a Pulitzer Center reporting journalist. I studied Norway's prison system, focusing on Bastøy island. During the summer, I interviewed inmates, prison guards, and officials about the Norwegian correctional system, how it works, and the strategy behind it. I then traveled back to the US and published my findings. I spent some time giving lectures at various institutions to inform Americans about the Norwegian concepts of rehabilitation rather than retribution, in regard to the purpose of corrections. This topic has become one of my biggest passions. :)

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

Unparalleled insight into all your favorite American TV shows, Hollywood life, celebrities, and how it's all made! I could also ruin it for you forever, if you'd like. ;)
