About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience as much of the world and the wonderful people in it as I can :-).

ABOUT ME

I've been told I am "immediately likable", a good, engaging conversationalist (and I enjoy listening), fun-loving and open-minded, kind and generous, laid-back and willing to go with the flow, adventurous and whimsical (especially whimsical!). I enjoy finding the positive in any situation, and enjoy finding the wonder in even the smallest moments.

PHILOSOPHY

Magic exists in every corner, nook and crannie of life-- you just have to be open to see it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to the community so I personally haven't couch surfed with anyone or hosted anyone yet. That said, I met my now-good friend George when he was couch-surfing through the United States last summer. He was staying with one of my close friends and accompanied us out for a birthday celebration. We had the best time showing him around Chapel Hill that night; it is one of my favorite memories! We still keep in close contact. That experience was so positive and really encouraged me to give couchsurfing a shot myself!

On my own front, I will hopefully get my first shot at couch-surfing in September. My friend Emily and I are planning a roadtrip through the Pacific Northwest from Seattle to San Franciso and are hoping to find some awesome hosts in both of the above-mentioned cities!

Last but not least, I am in the process of planning a round-the-world trip in the next year and a half, and plan to utilize this wonderful tool then as well!

Interests

I have many favorite things :-) : My closest friends and my family, "How to Cook Supper" Dinners with Jonathan and our friend Sarah; listening to music/learning to play music/seeing live music; anything art history-related (especially if it is surrealist or contemporary); really good food, wine and beer; long conversations over really good food, wine and beer; bright colors (especially lime green and yellow); coffee (and magical coffee shops... I can take you to a good one in Durham ;-)); finding and appreciating the magic in the every day; waterfalls and treehouses; whimsy; engaging with people and learning their stories; traveling, and the freedom and joy in spontaneity; planning a long-term, round-the-world trip; building model rockets; life and learning.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to name! This is a topic of conversation to be breached in person :-).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My family lived in Lima, Peru for a time and I was lucky enough to visit Machu Picchu... Talk about feeling awestruck by something...

My senior year of college I was given the opportunity to combine some of my favorite interests (sustainability, art, human interaction) and create/organize a grass-roots, DIY sustainable fashion show to raise awareness for UNC's environmental organizations and initiatives (and now the show is an annual event :-)). But it was amazing to see 50 people from very diverse backgrounds come together and combine their efforts to create such a fun and inspiring event (and amazing to meet some of my best friends in the process!)!
