About Me

Sorry, unable to host at the moment. I will reassess the situation in about a month...

NOTE: My work schedule is often unpredictable and sometimes involves very long hours, and this often precludes me from hosting, or being a good host when I am able to have guests, so be forewarned...

Brodie: I can be described according to the following spectrums as follows...
Friendly-unfriendly (pretty far to the left)
Quiet-loud (to the left)
Mellow-high energy (pretty far to the left)
Sedentary-athletic (pretty far to the right)
Left wing-right wing (pretty far to the left)
introvert-extrovert (slightly to the left)
Safe-risk taker (slightly to the left)
Fun-boring (in the middle)
Narrow-minded - open-minded (to the right)

If you want to know more, people have left me plenty of references.

Couchsurfing has been a big part of my life for the past five years, but unfortunately much less so the past two years, as I have a heavy work load for school, a small apartment, and other obstacles.

Annie has been a part of my life for the past three and a half years, and has hosted couchsurfers with me during that time.

Annie can be described as follows.
Friendly-unfriendly (pretty far to the left)
Quiet-loud (slightly to the right)
Mellow-high energy (in the middle)
Sedentary-athletic (slightly to the right)
Left wing-right wing (pretty far to the left)
introvert-extrovert (slightly to the right)
Safe-risk taker (to the left)
Fun-boring (to the left)
Narrow-minded - open-minded (to the right)

PHILOSOPHY

Live with a social and environmental conscience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting, surfing, spreading word of mouth... Used to actively welcome new members, moderatie groups, promote gatherings, but currently taking a break from that.

Hosted 30+ couchsurfers throughout spring and summer of 2007.

Surfed about 20 couches in Europe, India, New Zealand between Sept 2007 and April 2008.

Have been back in Thunder Bay since May 2008 and have hosted about 50+ people since.

Teach, Learn, Share

Brodie: My main interest in travel is to exchange information and experiences with people from different cultures. I've lived in Thunder Bay for over twenty five years so can tell you most things you'd want to know about the area. I've taught myself how to brew beer, grow vegetables, and forage wild foods, so I'd be happy to share these skills. I have a degree in psychology and am pursuing a degree in medicine. I've studied French for years, but still am far from fluent, so am happy to share what I know and would welcome any teachers to help me develop fluency. I'm also very interested in learning about socially and environmentally responsible living, and would like to learn more about primitive skills / the skilled trades. I've been teaching myself basic bicycle maintenance, so that is another area I can teach/learn more.
Annie is an amazing cook and preserver of food. She is very knowledgeable about issues of food security and social justice.
