About Me

I'm a 39 year old woman who took a gap year in 2016 to travel, I joined the couchsurfing community at that time and loved meeting people.

I've lived in a few different cities in Australia - the ones most will know being Sydney and Melbourne. Love both cities and feel really lucky to have gotten to know both of them. I move around because I love variety and find myself getting restless if I am in the once place too long.

Most recently I've begun travelling internationally for my job which is a great way to see new places.

I'm currently learning French which I am mostly enjoying. I'm into exploring - whether that be the suburb I live in or places around the world.

I have a Masters degree in English and Sociology and a Bachelors degree in Leisure Management. I love to learn and have studied some politics, psychology, Aboriginal studies and science independent of my formal degrees.

I'm a very independent person who loves quality conversation with good people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy the meetups when I'm travelling and am keen to give back to the community by hosting.

Interests

When I'm at home in Sydney/Bathurst I like to check out local markets, head up to the Blue Mountains, chill out in a cafe with a good book, go out for food with friends and most of all watch my local football team (Sydney FC).

I enjoy getting away for the weekends and absolutely love the open road. I've become a real transport nerd in the last few years and particularly love train and tram travel!

I'm interested in most things because I love variety so I try to keep an eye out for interesting things to get involved with.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite book is The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. I read a lot of Young Adult Fiction and lately have also been getting into detective novels.

Musically, I am a big fan of lyrically driven music so listen to a lot of singer-songwriters especially Australian ones - Clare Bowditch, Holly Throsby, Josh Pyke etc. I've been rekindling my love of music recently, and Spotify discovery playlist is giving me a whole lot of artists to love - current fave Bertrand Belin.

I've gone off movies in the last few years - I'm not a fan of the usual hollywood fare so mostly access film through Netflix or the like. The last few movies I saw were Mockingjay Part 2 (love the Hunger Games books), Inside Out (what an amazing film) and Minions (fun fun fun!). Outside of that have been watching French films to help with my language learning.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Convinced a good friend to come to a tiny town in France, Mulhouse, to visit the home town of my favourite Melbourne tram (The Bumblebee) and go to the second largest train museum in the world! That was the moment I realised I'd become an out and out train nerd.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Great conversation! The opportunity to share the best bits of your town with someone keen to find them.

I'm happy to share any expertise I might have to help out on any projects you are working on. I've managed musicians, organised events of all sizes and worked in marketing so might be able to assist. I'm a huge fan of collaboration and love to help people out!

If you are looking to practice/improve your English I'm happy to help out with that too.
