About Me

Graduate student who likes to travel instead of save money for a new car.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm mostly here to seek other places to stay, but I'm open to hosting travelers in Bowling Green, Kentucky, if anyone's interested. We have the Mammoth Cave nearby (world's longest cave system), bourbon distilleries, lots of nature around us ... did I mention bourbon?

Interests

I'm studying for an MFA in creative writing, so I'm interested in literature and things like that. But as a trained journalist, I also like hearing people speak about their own passions.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like jazz but can't name any musicians besides the obvious ones (Louis Armstrong). I like chill music. My taste in music is pretty unrefined at this point.

Movies, I like superhero films, big Spider-Man fan. Also enjoy historical films, there's just something about actors in period get-up. I like quirky TV shows like Pushing Daisies and comedies like Broad City. And given my recent interest in learning foreign languages, I've started watching non-English films.

Books ... Oh, goodness, it's best to just ask me in person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, one time during warm-up for a little league baseball game, I threw a baseball to a guy who wasn't paying attention. The ball lodged itself perfectly between his shoulder and the side of his head. He'll try to tell you nonsense about standing perfectly still to catch it, but that throw was all me.

I did a year of Peace Corps in Cambodia, too, that's a distant second.

Teach, Learn, Share

Those three things are all good things to do.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can talk about American culture, a little Cambodian culture, and literary stuff.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Myanmar, Slovenia, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Cambodia, United Kingdom, United States
