About Me

I guess I've spent more years than I care to remember working then travelling, then running out of money, some more working, then more travelling. At some point I decided I'd follow my friends and start to save some money & buy a house. Alas that lasted a very short time before I went travelling again. I've been on the road now over a year and still kicking around some parts of the world that I find interesting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As the years of travelling ticked by the repetition of Hostels and Hotels have turned from something enjoyable to now more of a chore. Couchsurfing breaks that in the best possible way - not only does it offer an escape from the traveller circuits but it also lets us travellers into people's homes to meet interesting minds who inhabit these places. I'm on Couchsurfing to meet all the different shapes and sizes and opinions and ideas from some of the 7 billion people on this rock.

Interests

Photography, Film, Theatre, Music. Lots of years working in Theatre, TV and Film industries as well as more recently Photography. But also History, Geography, Politics. All those things that keep a travelling mind interested in a place I guess.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots, too many to mention. I'll just say I love Casablanca. Probably one of the best. Oh, and The Big Lebowski. And S Club 7.

What I Can Share with Hosts

In the past I've offered people who have picked me up while I'm hitchhiking to take and email a personal B&W portrait photograph of them. Not for any reason - just so I can give them something and we'll both have something to remember. One time when this worked the best was somewhere in Egypt when 2 lovely people picked me up and it turned out they had recently got married but couldn't afford proper wedding photos so I offered to take some of them along the Nile river. Good times.
