About Me

A cool outgoing Native Hawaiian cisdude with Chinese, Korean, Samoan and Maori roots as well. Originally from Hawaii, I'm currently going to school in Washington, USA. I speak Hawaiian and am damn proud of my identity.

I am in a study abroad program that spans race studies, cultural studies, law and policy, geography, and Native American studies. I'm a Political Science student who plans on graduating from college next year in 2016. Currently debating whether or not I should go into graduate school for law/public policy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling and everything it comes with, meeting new people and seeing new sights. I'm traveling to New Zealand very very soon and am hoping to connect with other cool open-minded people while I do so. As a queer dude, this would also be a great opportunity to connect with fellow queer people around the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled through a bunch of Europe's best spots in an insanely short two week period. The architecture of France is pretty damn great.

Teach, Learn, Share

My culminating project is on studying how various Indigenous peoples' more-nuanced-and-complex beliefs on gender ambiguity and sexual identity/orientation were reshaped by western colonization. I spent last quarter looking at Two-Spirit identity in Native communities within the US and Canada and plan on taking my project through my own home in Hawaii all the way down to the South Pacific.

In doing so, I also hope to familiarize with and re-immerse myself in my polynesian identity. Like-minded individuals of all backgrounds, please reach out to me! There's a lot of value to be had in cultural exchange in the form of a conversation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences! (limited or unique as they may be) And bad jokes, probably.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Vatican City State
