ABOUT ME

I'm an active contemplative. A good listener who also likes to talk. I live alone in a tiny cabin (400 sq ft) on 25 acres with a cat and a dog. I'm friendly, open, enjoy socializing, and can spend long periods of time on my own, quite content.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I really enjoy hosting, although somewhat isolated so don't get very many couchsurfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since joining this community in 2012, I have been hosted multiple times and have always had good experiences. I have travelled widely over many years and been hosted in dozens of private homes, and given shelter to many passing travellers. I've never been disappointed.

Interests

The natural world, reading, conversing. I sing in a local choir, do Tai Chi, participate in community activities.

Music, Movies, and Books

These are moveable feasts. I read a lot, mostly contemporary fiction but I also enjoy re-reading classics. Since I live far from movie theatres I generally watch movies online or on DVDs from the library - my preference is for independents, but I take my chances with the library catalogue! Music ranges from singer/songwriters to African, country, cajun, classical. I'm happy to try almost anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I gave birth at home with friends to help. I witnessed the birth of a volcano in eastern Zaire (as it was known then), walking across the ash and lava fields and spending a night watching the show. Met a gorilla in the bush.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach meditation. Also basic natural horsemanship. I can share skills of simple rural living.
