About Me

New to the travel game and a very thankful guest!

I enjoy being active and looking for adventure. Recently decided to go abroad and I'm doing a solo trip so I might need some help from local people. I don't want to do too much of the tourist stuff and I like to meet and talk to local people to hear their stories!

I'm a sports fan, architecture fan, enjoy pets, prefer to walk than drive (if possible) and I'm not afraid of the long way.

Agenda is second to my experiences for the current trip. For now it's a go with the flow plan. I was touring in Paris 🇫🇷 which is where my adventure started because of a wedding and then Lithuania 🇱🇹 where I met really nice people who have shared the must see things and also the places they take friends when they visit. Warsaw 🇵🇱 brought me to some new challenges and stretched me as a person. I enjoyed that city and it's many gardens/palaces! Lviv 🇺🇦 was a wonderful city and besides leaving the EU and border crossing delays I really enjoyed my time there. Again I met great people...ones I will meet again and also was thankful for how strongly people stepped up to help me on my trip....just wow! Next, It rained in Budapest 🇭🇺 most of the time and although it's tougher to keep the mood in good spirits, I love it because it means the other tourists stay home haha! Again in Budapest, hosts have been just great by coming through when I experienced cancellations and gave me a unique experience I'm so thankful for. Croatia followed 🇭🇷! I spent two nights in Zagreb and was impressed with the attitude of that city (except for the graffiti everywhere). Then after a hard 20h trial of hitchhiking as a single male in the rain, I made it to the coast in the early morning hours! Exhausted and hungry...thunderstorms! Found shelter and slept outside for a little bit like a wet dog 🐶 haha. Why hasn't croatia caught on with the couch surfing?? I went to many towns/cities and did my share of 'urban camping ⛺️ '.
I didn't meet as many locals as I hoped but I did have new experiences as fellow travellers were more available in Croatia and although many different personalities...the traveller spirit is usually quite impressive. I heard some amazing travel stories :)

As my adventure comes closer to an end I've been reflecting more and I have to say a big "Thank You!" To everyone that has been a part of it and all the experiences I have had.

I look forward to hosting some people I've met over the last weeks in Canada sometime in the future!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Mostly I'm doing this to get away from typical tourist activity and find the heartbeat of the places I visit. Secondly to meet people/make connections in local areas that might become friendships with people far from my home! Then lastly of course to save some money on lodging so I can have better experiences, include others in my experiences and prolong those experiences!
