Overview
About Me
I'm Brooke, and I am a recent grad of Harvard University. I am currently travelling with the Michael C. Rockefeller Memorial Fellowship, which is dedicated to giving post-grads a year of meaningful travel to work out indecision in their career path. I am using this year to exploring storytelling in Scotland--both in the traditional sense and from a comedic perspective.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am really interested in collecting stories and creating stories with other people! I'd love to share what I have and learn as much as possible!

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Lolita, A Stroke of Insight, Life of Pi, all things Zadie Smith and David Sedaris
Music: Billy Joel, Sylvan Esso, The XX, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Avett Brothers, The Rolling Stones, and low-key, I love Eminem
Movies: I love cerebrals like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the Prestige, Big Fish, but can't live without my classics like Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, and also love bashing a good early 2000's romcom.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I graduated from Harvard with a degree in neurobiology, and I worked for a while as a cartoonist with the Lampoon. While there, I also was heavily involved in improv comedy and worked to organize our first intercollegiate improv comedy festival. Once, I got a crazy opportunity to perform with some of my heroes, Second City Improv, on stage at the Wilbur theater.
I thought I was going to be a doctor (neurologist) for a while, as I grew up with a younger brother who has pretty severe autism--took the MCAT and everything. However, I realized that if I became that, many of my other creative interests would just become hobbies.
Teach, Learn, Share
I was trained as a painter for many years. I also have experience in silkscreening and canvas-building, if we can find the materials.
I can teach English as well as basic science, writing skills, and math. I have done quite a bit of academic tutoring in my time.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook a good Southern US cobbler/lemon ice-box pie as well as other food things.
I am good with kids, and I'm looking for people with whom I can practice story-telling.
I also know quite a bit about the human brain, and I love to talk science/psychology until you grow bored. I also love to get into improv bits--perhaps I can make you laugh with my quirky-awkward way.
