About Me

ABOUT Steve and Brooke

We love to meet new people and explore new ideas and places. Travel is an important part of our lives. Right now we are stir crazy but are in the design process of creating an urban food forest on our double lot while I finish up my sociology degree. My husband, Steve is a freelance writer and also works for natural awakenings magazine.

We are also musicians in a band called the Earth Natives. Our hopes for our music is that it inspires others as well as continues to remind ourselves to appreciate and take care of our beautiful planet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have couch surfed just once in our state. We have hosted many times at our house and it has been a great experience meeting so many interesting travellers.

One couch surfer left home for the first time to go across the country to get a particular puppy he felt destined to have! He ran out of money, called the local news, and after the story aired, got recognition from inside edition, who came and payed for his flight back home!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Anything by Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Kerouac, David Sedaris, and Augusten Burroughs, and most sociology books!

Music: Pretty much everything; especially local music with folk and/or blues elements.

Nahko and Medicine for the people and the Black Keys are some of our favorite bands.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The 2015 Rainbow gathering in MI.

Lived on the beach for two weeks of rustic camping in Nicaragua in a tent with a mattress!

Tombstone territorial park in the Yukon.
