About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See as much of the world as I can in this lifetime.

ABOUT ME

I'm an honest, dedicated, loyal friend. I work hard and play harder. I love, love, love experiencing new places and meeting new people. One thing my (not-so-extensive) travels have taught me is that we as humans are all similar in that we are mainly good, we all want love, and we all strive to be better.

PHILOSOPHY

Learn, love, and experience as much as possible. Be open to new things, but never compromise your integrity. Live in truth. Strive for happiness by enjoying wherever you are at the moment.
"[An] important difference between tourist and traveler is that the former accepts his own civilization without question; not so the traveler, who compares it with the others, and rejects those elements he finds not to his liking." --Paul Bowles, The Sheltering Sky

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

After a two week vacation to Paris over the holidays, my need for travel has been renewed. I've already booked a month trip back to Europe this July (2013) and want to experience each new place as much as a local as possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Other than staying with friends, none yet. This summer will be my first time as a couchsurfer through this site. I'm also working on my roommates to open up our home. Hopefully soon. I think this site is a great way to connect us nomadic types.

Interests

I'm an avid runner and run at least every other day. I also like rock climbing. I spend part of every day doing something outside, even if it's just a hike up the mountain behind my house or taking my dog for a walk along the creek.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: My favorites are A River Runs Through It, The Sheltering Sky, and The Lover, but I also love documentaries. In order for a movie to be high on my list, it must make me laugh and/or cry or, preferably, both.

Music: current favorites are The Avett Brothers, G Love, but I also love Fleetwood Mac, Modest Mouse, Fat Boy Slim, Brandi Carlile, the Zac Brown Band. My music tastes are quite broad and ecclectic.

Books: Favorite book of all time is Ann Fairbairn's "Five Smooth Stones," which I'm currently reading for the 4th time. Favorite author is Wally Lamb. I basicaly have the same criteria for books as I do movies. They must make me feel something.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'd have to say the most amazing places I've been have all involved hiking into the mountains, whether it's Yosemite National Park in northern California, the Chugach range in Alaska, or the Bitterroot (i.e. Rockie) Mountains out my front door. But I've also travelled to Mexico three times, Jamaica, and Paris. Looking forward to exploring Europe this summer.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you've ever wanted to try cross-country skiing or rock climbing, Montana is the place to come and I'd be happy to take you.
