My travel story (in brief): When I was fifteen years old, I asked my mother if I could travel to Ireland alone. Naturally, my mother replied with a firm “no.” After a moment she added, “maybe in a year,” not thinking anything would come of it. Exactly one year later I brought my mother into my bedroom, lifted the bed – revealing the money I had saved for my trip, along with extensive notes on Irish culture. During my flight to Ireland, I wrote a goal in my journal: to travel to 40 countries before turning 22. After three months of travelling to twelve different countries, I realized I had learned very little about each individual country. So I set standards and refined my goal: to remain in each country for a minimum of two weeks, learning the basics of each language, and their particular cultures. So, here I am.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I started Couchsurfing when I was seventeen. Then, I was more attracted to the free accommodation aspect of Couchsurfing. Now, I continue to use Couchsurfing because it is a great way to meet locals and learn more about a culture. You create long-lasting friendships by simply sleeping on some ones couch - I would take that over a bed any day!
