About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Explore the globe, meet awesome people, drink good wine, paddle, swim, dive, laugh.
ABOUT ME
I'm a travel writer by day. I get paid to interview awesome people and enjoy exotic locales. When I mention this, most people respond by telling me that they hate me. I'm kind of used to it. When I'm not traveling, I tend to be fairly domestic because I'm not home all that often. I'm a huge fan of dinners in and reading on the couch, but I can always be persuaded to visit Furniture Bar, aka the best establishment in town. When not working, I spend time doing the things that I am really good at: Cheering people up. Outsmarting monkeys. Cooking Indian food. Abbreviating words. Talking style with the Amish. Pool crashing. Cocktail mixing. Rhyming. Singing in the shower. Sewing clothes for my dog. Air guitar smashing.
PHILOSOPHY
Say yes when you can. Try everything. Hear people's stories. Tell jokes. Never stop exploring.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm open to hosting, especially folks from other countries. Would love it if I could host someone who could teach me to salsa dance. Or if you can teach me to cook your favorite dish, I'll buy the groceries. Also especially welcome: Mac users with cool music. Vegetarians. Storytellers. I know I have a tendency to stick to the same two bars and the same few hobbies, so having visitors will surely help me explore my city further and revisit things worth loving.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I just joined, which explains why I am not too connected to a ton of folks yet. Right now, looking to meet travelers in Orlando and take them to my favorite restaurants and bars. I'd love to hear your stories.
Interests
I'm a huge fan of being on the water. I spend my free time kayaking, swimming and paddle boarding (because of this I am kind of a dork and know a fair amount about birds). I am a sucker for board games (Connect Four, Scrabble, Guess Who) and Belgium beer. I LOVE bicyles and have a spare (two cruisers and a road bike). And I also really, really like Frisbee.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite authors: Jonathan Ames, Jay McInerney and Jonathan Franzen. I read a ton of travelogues about people (mostly men) kayaking long rivers, bicycling across Siberia, etc. I read to be inspired, either by language or by feat. As for movies, my favorites: The Shining, The Royal Tennenbaums, Joe Versus the Volcano, Donnie Darko, My Blue Heaven, Four Weddings and a Funeral ... Music. I am a huge fan of Modest Mouse, My Morning Jacket, Fleetwood Mac, SRV, Party Ben, Fatboy Slim, Blind Pilot, Band of Horses. I like a lot of blues, house and other assorted stuff. Music that makes me feel like dancing.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm humbled by what I've seen so far. To name a few:watching breaching whales off of Puerto Vallarta, Mexicohiking into Macchu Pichu at dawnwatching leatherback turtles lay eggs on St. Croix made me crysleeping cowboy-style in the desert of Egypt
