About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to continue on the path of becoming one amazing global citizen. I want to meet and build with fabulous fierce people all over the world. Care to join me?

ABOUT ME

I believe in love, light and liberation.

I spend my free time cooking, riding my bike and gardening with my loved ones. I organize free restaurants and teach cooking classes. I LOVE TO EAT TOGETHER AND SHARE FOOD!

I am an avid traveler and global citizen. I deeply appreciate the opportunity to build connections with people I meet on my travels. I feel so blessed to have such an amazing international group of friends and family. I believe in the power of community and believe in building systems of support and solidarity with struggles for liberation around the world. For me, these connections are often built around a shared meal. I believe that there is an incredible beauty and power in sharing meals. Recipes hold the history of our peoples and I often document and share those recipes through free cookbooks that i write and distribute.

I am also a photographer and muralist. I have painted large murals in a number of cities but my favorites are still the ones I have painted at my house. I live in a collective of radical people of color community organizers in San Francisco. I am very socially/politically progressive. I identify as a feminist and ally.

When not cooking or eating...im DANCING!! i dance when i ride my bike, dance when Im at work, Dance everywhere i can!! My favorite dance parties often happen in kitchens.... :) I love trading music with folks I meet on my travels. I'm also a pretty big night owl and love seeing the nightlife of wherever I'm at.

I love hosting travelers and showing folks around my city (wherever that may be at the moment!). Join me! Lets share a meal and an adventure.

<3 and liberation,

saqib

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

much of what i do revolves around getting more people involved and interested in world travel and, specifically, communities like Couch Surfing. I also travel and host :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have done a lot of spur of the moment travels that have taken me on all sorts of adventures. I am a huge believer in the innate goodness of people and their kindness. Although I have found myself in some tight situations, people have always come through for me and I'd like to think that I've always come through for them as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

mmm books and music. I like them all nearly as much as i like cooking and eating.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once upon a time, my chest hair acted as cred with a group of monks and nuns who were positively amazed by it. I was traveling in rural Tibet and when i walked into the courtyard of the Monestary one of the monks saw my chest hair when i took my sweater off and started to follow me. He called more people over, one ting lead to another, and my chest hair was being rubbed by 15 or so Monks. They invited me into their Monestary and let me stay for a few days.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love getting into discussions and learning from people that i meet. I have learned more from both short encounters and seemingly endless conversations with random people during my travels than i have in any of my university classes.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, Costa Rica, France, Haiti, India, Ireland, Kenya, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom
