About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Help oot (Canadian enunciation) whomever I can, and live like a king while doing it.

ABOUT ME

From a hard day working on computers - sometimes you need to jump out of an airplane. Other moments, you want to partake in a 15km swim. Every once in awhile you might want to sit back with a few friends at home and enjoy a beer...or a case of it. If there is something to be experienced - I will head towards it full throttle. Otherwise - it's time to relax and enjoy the ride.

PHILOSOPHY

If your parachute fails to open - just remember:

You have the rest of your life to fix it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I intend to do lots of fun things, and hope to be a good host in the coming weeks, months and years. Aside from that - being involved in the deaf culture - perhaps I can be an appealing person to visit in Ottawa when I get there in two weeks!

**updated**

I have now settled into my place in Ottawa, Ontario now. Thank you to the couch surfers that offered their places to me while I traveled! (However, I ended up sleeping in the car due to missed travel arrangements). From there - I think my count is at two pull out couches, a regular couch, 2 beds, and lots of floor. There is always enough food and drink for everyone to enjoy, so don't be shy about the number of people you want to travel with when visiting. I look forward to having a few fun people stop in, and am always here to help.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, some relevant to this site (lots of people have stayed with me) - but there was a group of very special people that met through an online video game once upon a time. We all valued eachother so much that we organized a Hallowe'en party one year in Baltimore... We all expected a gathering of out-of-the-basement computer techs, but were pleasantly surprised to find tall, clean shaven, wide range of aged wonderful people! We have been in touch for over 7 years now - and love every minute we get to hang out. When we travel to cities we know an old gaming member lives - we share accommodations (Except Dan, he has too many cats!). It is becoming often that we make special events to see each other outside the party and other reasons for being in town.

The group went from an online game that pushed out all the young and immature, to the old and creepy and created a family that doesn't want to stay apart. Easily the greatest experience of friendship I have ever had! I want this to extend from our group to Couchsurfers too :D

Music, Movies, and Books

Terry Goodkind's series "Sword of Truth"
Chuck Palahniuk novels (invisible monsters, rant etc)
Destination Void (And other Frank Herbert books)

Music? Anything that isn't considered mainstream Country, or mainstream hip-hop I can learn to love. I enjoy a good rock out session, and also love to relax to some mellow music on a hot day.

Movies are a rarity for me, but when convinced to tell of my favourites, they are Boondocks Saints and Watchmen.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done many, many amazing things in my life. I have also wasted some of that time too, so I hope that couchsurfing will assist me in making it a little more amazing. On my list so far:

Skydiving, Freediving, Old faithful and area in Yellowstone National Park, Florida Keys, Arches National Park, Black Forest, Badlands, Whale watching off of Vancouver island, Ocean Kayaking...and rescuing my sunken kayak 30m down, driven faster than 175 mph, watched a peregrine falcon catch a pigeon faster than I can drive...* I will save a few for when you stop in ;)*

Teach, Learn, Share

There are so many things that I need to work on: My skydiving, working on cars, practicing my forgotten languages (french is really rusty, italian and german are long gone). I could use a little help with my sign from a person in the deaf community as well. I can assist people in many, many things. From languages, to computers, to swimming and on and on. I would hope that people are as excited to share their knowledge as I am - so when you come to my home make sure you have an open mind - more importantly can keep up with me :)
