Biologist, journalist, diver - they are not things that you just do, they are also things that you are. To me, they signify an interest: what are things or people like? Why are they like that? One day, I might make the change from being interested to being interesting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a couch, and will cook a decent meal for any couchsurfers that pass by.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had some strangers over, which all went well and good.
Was a bit disappointed to receive mass-emails from people who had clearly approached every couch in the region. You're much more likely to succeed if you just ask one person with whom you have something in common, than if you just spam the whole area.

Movies: Fight Club, Amelie, Eternal Sunshine, arthouse.
Books: Pratchett, Crighton, Bryson, imaginative literature.
Music: obscure bands I see in clubs and on festivals that noone else seems to know.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dived with manta rays, got lost in the jungle of Vietnam, learned how to cook Laotian food from a lady who didn't speak a word of English, made friends. Currently writing my first book, which I will feel pretty amazed about if I get it done.
