Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To somehow combine all three of fun, employment, and love.
ABOUT ME
I want to know everything! Unfortunately, I forget most of it.
PHILOSOPHY
Live and let live. Almost everyone is good and has interesting skills and experiences and something to talk about. Maybe we can enhance each other's time here, but at the very least we shouldn't make it worse.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Only hosting so far. I hope to make use of CS next time I'm traveling!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm pretty new in the CouchSurfing world, but I've been fortunate to have met a lot of people on the internet and done informal couch surfing here in NZ and also in the USA over several decades (the first was Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco in 1989!). I've also enjoyed having overseas guests from time to time, usually met via the computer science or gliding communities.
Interests
I like to be in control of moving machines, especially if they're powered by me or by nature: I bicycle, I fly gliders. I used to sail a Laser. I also enjoy my car and motorcycle.
I enjoy writing my own computer programs and, increasingly, interfacing them to hardware using micro controllers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was fortunate to be present in Mojave, California on June 21, 2004 for the first flight into space (above 100 km high) by a private spacecraft (SpaceShip One). I have friends in another company developing similar vehicles. I hope to get a flight into space one day.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a qualified flying instructor in gliders/sailplanes. I can tutor computer programming and related subjects.
