About Me

Alien music and film nerd from Udine (Italy), aka one of the rainiest places you will find in Europe, currently doing my European Voluntary Service in Debrecen (Hungary).

Who am I probably depends a lot on the company, the situation, the atmosphere, the weather, when was the last time I ate something and what I did eat, how much I slept, and so on. Some of the constant traits are my comical clumsiness, my principles, my curiosity, my bizarre sense of humour, my outrageously fake British accent when I speak English and my thick Northeastern accent when I speak Italian.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It began with an attempt at finding new people here in Debrecen which for many reasons (mostly my lack of trying and my very unpredictable schedule) pretty much leas to nothing; after a 2-weeks trip through 9 cities, 3 countries and 5 hosts with my girlfriend, I decided it was about time to give something back and stop being a selfish bastard.

Music, Movies, and Books

As for music, nearly anything made between 1926 and 1994 will do, but I really have a sweet tooth for 1960s pop and rock music (anything from The Ronettes to Neil Young), new wave, post-punk, college rock, shoegaze, some random electronic stuff, sludge/doom/stoner metal and, uh, I'd say 1960s jazz. I sadly lack any preparation to appreciate classical music (maybe will get there one day) and music made by white people after 1994 I mostly find it tedious. Maybe one day I will get to appreciate hip-hop, I somehow have the feeling that to appreciate it at its fullest I need some knowledge of other areas of black music, but this far my digging into the blues crates from the Delta to Chicago is doing well.
Movies are something I started digging deep into quite late (around university) because of time and space constraints, but I found myself a movie buff rather quickly. Throw me in some good American cinema (David Lynch, Coen Brothers, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Alfred Hitchcock - yeah I know he was actually British) and I will be very happy, but also some European and Asian stuff is very much appreciated.
My attention deficit limits somehow my literary experience, but I did read my fair share of Russian and Italian goodies. Perhaps when I will have some discipline and attention span I will become a literature scholar, who knows?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being possibly the clumsiest person on the Northern Hemisphere should count.
Nah, that's boring.
During my Erasmus in Szeged I once ate grasshoppers brought by a Mexican: you have to hold them by the legs and dip them in the sauce and eat - once you get over the weirdness factor, they're not bad at all. Another Erasmus experience was climbing into the minaret of Eger - your legs are all wobbly once you get out. As for domestic experiences, I got dressed as a unicorn at my graduation party (it needs to be said that graduation parties in Northern Italy are insane). And how can I forget the two nights I Couchsurfed in an abandoned kindergarten in Timișoara?

Teach, Learn, Share

As an Italian, I OBVIOUSLY can cook and I will gladly show you how to make a proper risotto. If you are some kind of language nerd, I speak a little known Romance language called Friulan and I could teach you some words and sentences. Also expect at least one between tea, craft beer and a good bottle of wine.
