Overview
About Me
Hello. I am a high school art teacher and artist/photographer. Besides being creative, I love to camp, hike, do most sports and just generally be outdoors exploring nature.
I have traveled pretty extensively and really love being immersed in new cultures. Most of my best experiences have been random connections made through traveling and I love how traveling unintentionally teaches me more than any other experience can. I feel that if everyone traveled truly experiencing various cultures; barriers and stereotypes would diminish pretty quickly. That is at least what I tell my students and try to bring in my experiences to the classroom.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am always looking for ways to be more engrossed in the local culture. I have always stayed at Hostels which are way better at starting to merge this divide as opposed to Hotels where you don't meet anyone. I feel like this would be the next step closer and I have a friend that recommended it to me.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite music is Indie music like, City and Colour, TV on the Radio, Friendly Fires, Death Cab, Black Keys..
Movies- Inception, Shawshank Redemption, pretty much anyything except cheesy horror films.
Books: Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, Long Way Gone.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Haven't stopped traveling since graduating high school. I only started to go surfing and fell in love with everything else traveling offers. I am happy and content that I have done so much like hike the Inca Trail, camp throughout Africa, and snorkel/dive beautiful locations throughout the world.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach anyone how to draw better and I am not too bad at teaching photography skill either :)
I would love to learn to become fluent in Spanish and always up for learning new recipes to cook.
I would be happy to share any information I have to provide someone with knowledge, make them think deeper, or just laugh.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Mutual respect, knowledge, laughter, and some great card games I have learned from my travels. If they want to learn more about art or photography, well that's my specialty.
