About Me

I’m a high school teacher who has fallen in love with experiencing new places and learning about different perspectives. I enjoy hearing people’s stories, their experiences and their dreams in life.

I’m an easy going and happy guy who is kind, appreciative, and respectful. You'll often find me with a big smile on my face and lots of laughs. I love going out the door with only a vague plan in my head and then going with the flow to experience new adventures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting the locals and experiencing the culture first hand from the people who live there is one of the most important parts of the travelling experience. I feel that there is something lost when only travelling to the main tourist attractions, surrounded by other tourists. There is a cultural learning opportunity gained from hearing the perspectives, different ways of doing, and different ways of thinking from people around the world. After spending time with locals, I leave feeling more connected to people in the area, more compassion for the region, and more connected to the global community.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on a one year university exchange to Hong Kong and Taiwan. I've loved travelling ever since.

Teach, Learn, Share

Although we may live in different places, we are more alike than different.

"Everyday smile at least once or you've wasted your day. You should love your life." - Ahmed from Tunisia (I met him on a plane)

"The purpose of life is to live it, to taste it, to experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience." – Eleanor Roosevelt

"When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But if you listen, you may learn something new." Dalai Lama

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope to be able to hear about their personal experiences and maybe share some of my own. I think people enjoy having a listener around who's just happy to be there. I've been told that I create an atmosphere of positivity, so I hope to share that with the host. I enjoy adventures and would love to go on some with my host if they'd like!
