ABOUT ME

Minnesota implant from Utah, by way of Iowa. I miss the west, desert, and mountains but love the new experience for culture. I love seeing how other people live, expanding world views and meeting new people.

One of my favorite things to do is go to events by myself and see who I can meet. I've met many life-long friends that way. As far as travel goes, I'd much rather spend the time viewing scenery, visiting local hotspots, and getting to know real people than taking a tour. Dinosaurs and natural history interest me. Minimalist at heart, and I pack light. Hiking, long distance running, and caving are my favorite activities.

PHILOSOPHY

No one person's experience is more important than any other person's. Leave minimal physical impact with maximum personal impact. Life is about people, experiences, and connections.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host and plan to surf. I figure if I take up space at someone else's place, I might as well do the same back home.
I think of CS as a way to meet people, so if I end up hosting or surfing I hope to spend some time getting to know my hosts or surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted, but not surfed. I also like to use CS as an opportunity to show off my city. My most memorable experience with CS was helping organize a CS elopement in Des Moines.

Running across the state of Iowa in a Speedo. The last two summers I ran Relay IA, a 339 mile race with 11 team mates. It's one of the most fun ways to experience the Midwest.
