About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To grow in a new way every day!

ABOUT ME

From the BlackBerry, to the Canadarm, to fundamental physics at CERN, as an engineer I have helped contribute to some of Canada's most innovative projects at home and abroad.

A nomad in nearly every sense of the word, I have now lived with 63 different roommates in 32 unique quarters.

My wandering tendencies have carried me through more countries than I have accumulated years and my destination changes nearly as often as my means of travel.

From the stern of a wooden canoe through serene northern waters, to roaring pedals on the winding Tour de France trail, to the weightless cockpit of a plummeting Airbus A-300: over the past few years, I have been lucky enough to trade camels in the Sahara for bullet trains in Japan, and a dogsled above Arctic ice for fins down below. I have parachuted over, sailed across and dived beneath the Mediterranean Sea.

Back in 2006, I swam, ran, cycled, hiked and skied, using all those skills to tackle the world's highest Ironman during a grueling 18-hour, +4000m ascent through the Swiss Alps. In 2007, I journeyed 8776.3 km across Canada on a bicycle fitted with photovoltaics, GPS and a hydrogen fuel cell, stopping at high schools to engage students on sustainability, education, and the importance of building a creative mind.

Passionate about life, enriched by the wonder of wild spaces, and fueled by the spark of bold, new ideas, I am driven by dreams of building a more sustainable world. I spend the bulk of my time determined to find ways to turn those dreams into reality.

PHILOSOPHY

Mistakes today, make me stronger tomorrow. Don't ask for an easy life, ask only for the strength to deal with that which comes your way. And above all else, learn from failure.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I must admit that I was a little skeptical at first, but my first host, Marcus, left me with such a wonderful impression of the merits behind this project that I can see no other way out than a lifetime membership IN!
