About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make a difference, and do what i love

ABOUT ME

At the moment I am travelling by bicycle through Italy! What a beautiful country! And such a fascinating way to travel. Everyone is a bit curious when you stop in a town; I've had many great conversations. So far Italy has really impressed me with how friendly people are.

Rravelling in order to see a bit more of this large and beautiful planet. The years go by so fast, I don't want to miss the chance to see it.

I'm an engineer, I used to work in clean energy (wind, solar) energy in Sydney, Australia.

I love the outdoors; soccer, sailing, kayaking, running...!

Also love literature, languages, art, architecture, cooking (eating!).

I can speak fluent German, reasonable Spanish, and awful French and Italian.

I also speak vulgar, colourful Australian :-)

PHILOSOPHY

Love- food, good music, beautiful landscapes, technology, ancient crafts (once did a three year blacksmith course), history, reading.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately, I live a long way out in the countryside, and I can't host people. I am also going to be travelling for a long time.

However, I am keen to meet people whilst I travel, whether socially and/or to couch surf.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have stayed on various couches, but not through this website before. Was once amazed at the generosity of a Thai family in letting two accommodation-less foreigners sleep on their floor.

Interests

Love sailing, dancing, playing soccer, reading, going to concerts. Am an enthusiastic amateur cook.

I am a curious person and am interested in other people's lives and experience. I believe -for myself - in the maxim that we have two ears and one mouth and they should be used in that proportion

Curious about history, love learning languages.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love all kinds of music. If it sounds good, it is good.

I love architecture, art and reading.

I am very omnivorous as a reader: classic Russian, modern American, fiction & non-fiction...as long as it is well written

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visited Tibet; amazing.

Skydiving; exhilarating.

Went scuba diving: tranquil, and mind-expanding. I love the ocean.

Teach, Learn, Share

People who approach the world with a commitment to see it as it is, getting rid of preconceptions. People who realise that a smile costs nothing and that the bravest people are not necessarily fighting a war..it might be the old guy struggling home with his groceries, using a walking stick

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Morocco, Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Brazil, Germany, United Kingdom, United States
