About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy Portland Maine!

ABOUT ME

I am an honest, hardworking, outgoing person. I am somewhat quiet, but really enjoy good conversations and meeting people from all cultures. I am very physically active, and like to spend a lot of time outdoors doing exercise (I do competitive running and nordic skiing) as well as physical work. I spend a lot of time playing and listening to music. I spend a lot of time playing piano and also enjoy playing bass. I was homeschooled all the way until I went to college at Bates in Maine, where I majored in music. Ideally, I see myself as a composer or perhaps with a job related to foreign language.

PHILOSOPHY

I live for the challenges and adventures in life. I am always looking for ways to make each day different from the one before.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfing is a great way to forge connections between people who would otherwise be complete strangers. I am excited to welcome these new friends into my home and to stay with people in whatever places I happen to be travelling next.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Both of my parents are couchsurfers, which has enabled me to gain a fair amount of experience with couchsurfing. My first couchsurfing experience was summer 2009 when my Dad and I stayed in Montreal when we were doing a road race there. It was a very positive experience, and since then I have had several other enjoyable couchsurfing/hosting experiences.

Interests

Running, electric bass, piano, composing music, nordic skiing, hiking, traveling, foreign languages, listening to good music, cooking, house building, gardening, meeting new people, enjoying good beer!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time running, I was chased several hundred feet by a grouse.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could tell people about what it's like to live primitively in rural Northern Vermont. I could also tell people a lot about homeschooling, since I was homeschooled all the way to college. I have a very different perspective on learning and education than a lot of people.
