About Me

***I live (and host) in Rovereto, a smaller town about 20 km south of Trento. It's a great place to visit, and I'd love to have you stay here — but if your goal is to stay in Trento, surfing at my place is the wrong option!***

CURRENT MISSION
Applying the tools that I developed during a doctoral program in neuroscience to research and editorial work.

FORMER MISSION
Travel the world in search of statues of characters from literature and then take their pictures.

ABOUT ME
I believe both in the power of the world to guide me and in my ability to shape the world. That is, if I want something to happen, it's my responsibility to make it so. And if I give up some control and let the world's currents take me, I may be surprised and delighted.

I've been a small-town newspaper reporter, a high school teacher in a foreign land and a graduate student in a foreign land. My friends like to joke that I'm going to be mayor of this little town someday, and I secretly harbor the hope that this could come true.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I mostly host, though I've surfed a few times. I like to think hosting makes you a better surfer and vice versa.

Interests

I run, I play the bagpipes, I enjoy good beers and wines. I fancy myself a storyteller, a photographer and an audio recorder. I like talking about good books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Always searching for the most dreamy moments. It was a great move to get an inflatable kayak. It has borne me on rivers, lakes and the sea, and now it wants to take me to the canals of Venice.

Some good ones that are better in my memory than written down: looking down on an ocean of clouds in Bansko, Bulgaria; long runs in Croatia, followed by leaps into the sea; driving along the coastal highway from Dubrovnik to Split; taking the train across snowy mountains from Visp, Switzerland, to France, driving Shelf Road in southern Colorado; standing beneath nuclear power plant cooling towers.

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia, Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Italy, Kosovo, United Kingdom, United States
