CURRENT MISSION

To help other people travel on the cheap and continue to gain the wonderful experience of meeting new people traveling while I'm stuck in one place for awhile.

ABOUT ME

I'm currently in Graduate School in Memphis, Tennessee working on a Masters Degree in Art History. I got my Bachelors in Art History at St. Louis University. I LOVE LOVE LOVE traveling. My first experience out of the country in Spain during a semester abroad got me bitted by the travel bug bad. I have spent over a year teaching English in Surabaya, Indonesia as well.

I am a very laid back person who likes meeting new people, going out, and experiencing art and culture. I like to hit up bars when I have the time and money, but I also really enjoy galleries and museums. I don't have the time/ability/money to do much traveling at this time, but am looking to substitute that by hosting travelers to share how well I have been treated on my travels with others and to continue gaining new experiences and meeting interesting people.

Not much. Traveled with a friend and her couch-surfer and realized from that experience how awesome this could be!

Art and Travel are the two things that grab my attention. I think it is because both are excellent ways to understand new cultures. New experiences, challenging experiences, and enjoying interesting conversations with new, different, interesting people are the things I enjoy most. I spend my time doing a lot of reading, studying, and socializing when possible! I like to go out to bars and restaurants with friends, but prefer quieter places where conversation is possible. I'm not the biggest "club guy."

The most amazing thing I've done was going on a trip with an Indonesian friend I had only met the day before, plus a couch surfer she was hosting, and two of her school friends. I piled into a car with 4 strangers basically, and after a drive, a long hike, and a boat ride, we came out into an untouched, beautiful beach surrounded by jungle and I had 4 new wonderful friends.
