About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Fellas, I'm ready to get up and do my thing!

ABOUT ME

I'm a time and space traveler. I'm teaching Music Theory for the local University while experiencing all I can outside of that. I'm just looking to experience life, as I have only one of them, I might as well make the most of it.

I've been learning a ton about bicycle building and repair and when I'm not having coffee, teaching, or making music, I'm hanging out with some of the most interesting people I know.

Basically, I'm a happy, silly, wild, occasionally intelligent (sometimes not so much) guy whose enjoying life because he can.

They're a bit strange, but here are recordings of some music I've written: http://soundcloud.com/d_grantham

PHILOSOPHY

Hmmm... Had an epiphany while enjoying a weekend at the lake:

My life experiences are only special to me and the people with whom I have shared those experiences. Many of these experiences are not any different from my predecessors, peers, and those to follow me. So enjoy every moment even though it isn't necessarily perfect or special. Share it with those around you, because they are likely to appreciate it just as much as you do.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ligeti to James Brown, there's a whole lot I like and I love to talk about music.

I love movies, I've seen lots of them.

Lately I've been reading biographies, but enjoy science fiction a lot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been to the Eternal City, Rome. During that trip I saw so many important works of Art that it changed the way I view art forever. I saw more important things that shaped the aesthetics of the western world than I ever imagined.

I have backpacked, canoed, swum, driven, and hiked many a mile and developed the most amazing appreciation for life and nature. To sit on top of a mountain you have climbed and watch the sun set on all the land around you is a most amazing sight.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about music: Basic Piano, French Horn, singing, theory, history. I can teach you to bake no-knead bread pretty quickly, too. I know my way around a computer. I'm a proficient bicycle repairman of late due to my local community bike shop and would love to help anyone learn to fix their bike.

I'd love to learn more about meditation, cooking, and of course other languages. In fact, I'd like to learn anything anyone has to teach me.
