ABOUT ME
Beards! Raa!
No seriously, I would like to say I'm a man of the world. The german word: Wunderlust says it best I always want to see over the next hill, or better yet from 20,000ft over lots of hills. The grass may not be greener on the other side, but will it feel different when I take my shoes off.
I been travelling and experiencing other cultures for as long as I can remember and I hope I will never stop.
PHILOSOPHY
"No worries"
Really that's about it, just keep saying it to people and in time it works.
No worries.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
very limited through this site, but people who will put a 2m bearded scot up for the night have always been friendly and polite, can't think why :D
Interests
Motorbikes, Scuba, Photography to begin with I guess, but really (as cliche as it sounds) meeting people, in the pub, on the train, in the street. We have a saying in scotland "No such thing as a stranger only a friend I haven't met", and more locally than that we had "wow someone i don't know!".
Alas in the rest of the world I am big and scary, instead of average, so let's try this :D
- photography
- pub crawls
- traveling
- socializing
- scuba diving
- languages
- mountains
Music, Movies, and Books
Redemption of Althalus
Read all or most of Pratchett, Eddings, Jordan. Mostly reading fiction - currently on Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman (warning some very graphic violence in this book).
Music : Always a hard one for me as I generally don't pick specifics but a few I do like Daft Punk, Pink Floyd, R.P.O., Moby, Gorrilaz.
Movies: another hard one generally like them all, I don't like movies just for blood (ie Saw etc), nor do I like weird dubbing on movies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Tibet - some things here just defy words.
Nicaragua - similar comment only not so good amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Tip for European shops/random people, learn how to say "Do you speak [Insert random language]?" in the local language. When they say no, then say in very bad english "I speak also english little", 99% of the time they now speak english to you even if they wouldn't before (especially good in France).
Always want to learn of your opinion and more languages (tho i clearly suck at these).
Can Teach - English spoken, how to break and then fix things, few other things that i cannot currently think of.
