About Me

Currently, I am a summer student at Karolinska Institutet until August 23rd. Also I study at Hacettepe University Medical School.

I was born and raised in Turkey. I've lived in different countries, cities and seen different people with different opinions. I think it contributed a lot to my personality.
I like walking in the streets of a city that I don't know especially in parks where a lot of trees, grass and water are. I like to learn about other cultures. I can talk about any topic as long as I know something about it because If I don't know anything, I mislead people. I'd like to travel around the world especially If I saw the city, which I want to go, from video games :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

First, I heard it from my teacher. And it sounded interesting. She told me that "what is expected from you is being a friend and traveling around the city as long as you're host is available. So I decided to join this website because I like traveling and making new friend. Because the more friends you have, the more you learn different opinions and the more you become open-minded.Also, I want to take some advices where to go because I don't have so many ideas about cities that I want to travel.

Interests

Science
I've studied for Chemistry Olympiads in high school for 4 years. However I could just pass first step but I didn't stop loving chemistry. Also I'm am interested in biology unlike many of my friends :) They didn't like it because there were a lot to memorize. But I think biology is one the most important fields in science. Especially it has become more important after Molecular Biology and Genetics came up.

Computer
Since I was a child I've been interested in computers because of video games during my childhood. However I'm kind of regretful because sometimes I preferred playing video games instead of getting outside and playing soccer.

Walking
I think walking makes me relax and think about different things and realize what is happening in the world because I feel like relieved while I'm walking in the parks in the middle of trees and silent atmosphere.

Movies and TV Series
It all started with my friends who were addicted to movies. We were watching movies on every weekend. Since I came to the US, I've been connected to Netflix. It's like a heaven for me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like to listen rock and metal music like Green Day, Paramore, Metallica, AC/DC...

I went to Iron Maiden and Metallica concerts in Istanbul.
First, I wasn't gonna go to Iron Maiden concert because I wasn't listening a lot except some songs such as Fear of the Dark and The Trooper. 2 years ago, in my friend's dorm room, We were listening Fear of the Dark concert edition in Argentina. At the beginning of the song, all of them were singing the song at the same time. And I felt like I couldn't have lived anymore If had missed the concert.
Then, I went to concert with my friends.

Metallica
Last summer, they announced that they were gonna come to Istanbul. I and my friends were so excited about the concert. We purchased the tickets immediately and went to concert ( almost 10 people ) Even though we waited for hours under the sun, It was worth it.

Fast and Furious ( I don't think 7th movie was very good but of course we had to go in order to show some respect to Paul Walker )

Lord of the Rings
My favorite character has always been Legolas because I think throwing arrows is cooler than using a sword. And also challenges between Legolas and Gimli were so funny :)

Harry Potter
I have some special bounds with Harry Potter. When I was a kid I considered as a little bit horror movie be user those different creatures. But overall it has been always interesting to me. Especially the last ones are so great which are not like children movies.

Italian Job
I don't know when I watched it first but afterwards I watched it at least 7 times. Couple of times I watched it back to back. I don't know why I did this but I was a child. I think it's normal for a kid to do weird things :)

Breaking Bad ( except the episode Fly )
I think it's because of my Olympiad thing. While I was watching Breaking Bad I was able to understand most of the chemical stuff.

Prison Break
It was summer break. My cousins were watching prison break and first time I saw prison break I said it's not so cool. Then I kept watching for couple of episodes. I became addicted eventually. I watched 15 hours without a break. I couldn't have watched it more because I ran out of episodes. Of course I finished it later.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It was 2 days before Ramadan eve, which is so common to celebrate with your grandparents, uncles, aunts and parents, I couldn't find any tickets but I had to go Isparta ( my hometown ) from Istanbul. So I decided to go to Bursa with ferry without any opinion about what's gonna happen when I arrived there. Then, fortunately, I found some tickets to Afyon which is the city close Isparta. Eventually I made it in 17 hours through 5 transfers.

I survived in Chicago's 14/15 winter!

I traveled around United States for 35 days. I went to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston and New York. I didn't have any companion. The only thing that I had was Couchsurfing. God Bless Couchsurfing!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to learn new languages. I started with english. I will learn Spanish.

I can teach math and chemistry. I have studied chemistry Olympiad in high school. And also if anyone wants to learns some Turkish, I would definitely help.

I'm interested in history lessons but just the listening part not the test part :) they always has been hard for me because there are a lot of things to memorize. And also you have to know the chronology.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A talkative, open-minded, clean, interesting guest whom you can talk with about anything as long as I have some ideas about the topic :) Like I don't think I can talk about Shakespeare :)
