About Me

Hello, holita, salut, salam, dzien dobry-ish!
Hamza here, soon to turn 24 (I do dislike odd numbers), born to Spanish and Moroccan parents in Western Sahara and raised much further north in Morocco. Moved to Poland two years ago when I decided to take control of my life, and have now made it my second home; been here long enough to miss mint tea and Vitamin D (yes, the type that comes from the sun).

Full-time student and part-time pessimist, I change academic majors more times than haircuts, but always come out of the experience having learned something new and I daresay valuable. I'd like to think of myself as a freethinker (not unlike a certain Satan), and whilst I may solely survive on sarcasm and fresh water, rest assured I don't eat souls for fun. In fact my babcia asserts I'm quite the sweetpie, you'll find it difficult to disagree. All in all, I like things, and so do you, I'm sure we'll find plenty in common to discuss :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Secluded in Morocco, I knew little of the world until I grew sound enough to consult books other than those assigned to us at school, which ultimately opened my eyes to countries and cultures I could not have dreamt of, expanding my worldview beyond the societal boundaries I was raised in. But no matter how vivid, words on paper only made me yearn for exploration, in much the same way corresponding with far-flung peeps across the globe further fueled my hunger for cultural exchange. Fortunate enough to have had a taste before of how sustaining to the soul such an exchange can prove to be, I realized that a place to call home is not stationary or made with hands, but discovered within the heart wherever you may be. This enthusiasm for globetrotting is only matched by my determination to engage culturally and intellectually with citizens of the world, and Couchsurfing sounds like damn good start :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

a work in progress ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

For anyone interested, I could share my insight on the MENA region and cultures as a nonconformist Spanish-Moroccan who grew up in the midst of it. I'd be delighted to answer all questions you might have on any aspect pertaining to the region, as well as share with you all those quaint, charming and innocuous aspects of my culture people seem to find so endearing.

And of course, this could be the perfect occasion to practice your French and/or Arabic (colloquial or otherwise), maybe even pick up some of it!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Norway

Countries I’ve Lived In
