About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Looking for faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity....
That and coffee tasting. Soooo much coffee tasting.
ABOUT ME
I am currently attempting to "play house" and remain the same place for a WHOLE year! (Something I haven't done in 10 ) I lived the seasonal life for most of my 20's, but have recently become a bit more serious about an actual career, being part of a community, and haveing all of my clothes in one time zone. It is going pretty well given the circumstances, and I have for the most part been able to avoid the monotiny and keep things fresh.
I like to travel, see beautiful places; meet interesting people, drink only the finest coffee, and listen to rad music. I am happiest in the company of friends and love making new ones. I am a Gemini and have an O+ blood type (fairly typical in humans.)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed a few times, and hosted a few times. The project is really inspiring, both from the surfing and hosting side of things. Being a bit more setteled, it will be cool to have the opportunity to host more and show off urban Alaska at its finest....
Interests
I work for the airlines, which is like having a buspass to the WHOLE WORLD. Its quite amazing to have the ability to travel, and just be limited by time off! Basically, I am on the "Planet Earth"nature documentary fanboy tour. Oh, jeez there sure are some excellent Ecosystems to check out. Preferably via bicycle.
But in addition to traveling, I also really like to be at home. (this dichotomy is part of being a Gemini...le sigh) Alaska is an amazing place, and there is always some rad adventure to go on. I spend quite a bit of time hiking when there isn't snow and skiing/snowboarding/iceskating when there is.
Ironically, being an environmentalist lead me into flying airplanes. Turns out it's the quickest way to get to the mountain tops. And then the mountain tops behind the mountain tops, ect. I've got a single engine Piper with big enough tires to land off airport, and I'm working on my bush pilot skills.

Music, Movies, and Books
Literary(ly) I am currently on a Kurt Vonnegut kick, and generally terrified about the global threat that Ice 9 poses.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
As the Geography Bee CHAMPION of my Elementary School, I set some logistically challenging goals for myself starting at a young age.
The most ambitious was visiting all 7 continents by age 25. That one was tough...but thanks to a job with the United States Antarctic Program, I got to all of them with 3 months to spare. Phew.
Teach, Learn, Share
Turns out I love talking about Alaska. Turns out most Alaskans love talking about Alaska! Its quite the place, and I'm lucky enough to have a job that sends me out into the wilds every day. This place is incredibly vast and empty, and I find that inspiring. If we have one thing to share with the rest of the world it is the sense of feeling small and insignificant in the face of wilderness. Sharing this land with visitors is a real blast for me.
