About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world and tell some damn good stories.

ABOUT ME

My name is Chase.

PHILOSOPHY

"Peace to all men, I say, and life more abundant!" -Henry Miller

As long as the goal to attain happiness and to spread joy is one's intention, I think you are set for life. Of course, you will always encounter people whose philosophies don't quite mesh with yours, but keep on trucking as long as it makes YOU happy. There is nothing like experiencing those moments of gratitude and beatitude. For myself, I don't believe in settling for less.

I also believe in healing our planet. Without the planet, there is no life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Film is life. Life is film. I love films with a personal signature that explore the human condition and say what it means to be human.

Films by Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Magnolia), Terry Gilliam (Twelve Monkeys, Tideland), Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream), Mike Nichols (Happy Go Lucky, Secrets & Lies), Denys Arcand (Barbarian Invasions, Jesus of Montreal), Stanley Kubrick (The Shining, Eyes Wide Shut), Coen Brothers (The Big Lebowski, O Brother Where Art Thou), Park Chan Wook (Thirst, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance)

By far, the book that has impacted me the most is Daniel Quinn's "Ishmael." A quote... "Trial and error isn't a bad way to learn how to build an aircraft, but it can be a disastrous way to learn how to build a civilization." His words about humanity and the destructive path that civilization has taken just opened my eyes.

I love the viewpoints of writers like Henry Miller and Kurt Vonnegut. Comic books/graphic novels are amazing as well. I enjoy Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, and Grant Morrison.

I like the beats of techno music as I can feel it. Classical is beautiful as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working alongside the Huarani at the headwaters of the Amazon in Tiweno, Ecuador; driving over 7,000km from Brisbane to Uluru and back; filming deaf children in Knockpatrick, Jamaica

Teach, Learn, Share

If you are at all interested in learning sign language and about deaf people in general, do not hesitate to ask! I am very open about my deafness and believe awareness is a very powerful thing.
