About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Saving the world. ;)

ABOUT ME

Hi, I am Matt(hias). I am originally from Austria, although I was born and so far have lived most of my life in Germany. I have lived in the UK for three years, studying marine biology at Bangor University. After my bachelor I spent a year abroad travelling through bits of Asia and then working as a diving instructor on a small island in the Maldives for 7 months. After that, I did my MSc in Global Change Ecology at Bayreuth University, Germany. Since then, I worked as a Data and IT-Specialist/Research Assistant mostly focusing on climate change impacts on biodiversity.

Since March 2020, my girlfriend and I live again in Bayreuth, where we share a really big house with a beautiful garden with 3-5 other people.

I would consider myself as an easy-going person, that enjoys being outdoors and doing sports. I love traveling and getting to know people from other countries and cultural backgrounds.

PHILOSOPHY

Never say never. Everything is possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host people that want to move to or visit Bayreuth and usually try to couchsurf myself when I am travelling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My two former house mates were frequent couchsurfers and hosted many people in our house. I enjoyed meeting a lot of new and friendly people that way and I hope to make similar experiences in the future while travelling or hosting people myself.

Interests

Main main interests are ecology/marine biology, sustainability, scuba diving and music. I love to play my acoustic guitar. I also enjoy being outdoors (hiking, cycling, running and bouldering) and like any sorts of water sports (swimming, free diving, underwater hockey, scuba diving).
