关于我

I grew up in small agricultural town in central California. I enjoy making things grow, riding my bike on the roads and hiking in the hills. One of my greatest joys in the world is getting to converse with interesting people and expand my experience of the human landscape around me.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I find it is one of the most amazing ways of getting to meet people, and my primary goal in my travels is getting to know other peoples lives. In my experience, there is a fundamental understanding between hosts and surfers that comes from the trust of having a relative stranger either host or stay at your house that leads to frank and open conversations that I have found rarely outside Couchsurfing.

-self taught myself to cook in college and it soon dawned on me that this was my artistic outlet. I cannot hold a beat or draw worth a dang, but I have been told that I'm quite the creative cook. I like making inventive dishes with whatever ingredients on hand, which was always welcome in a large household where roommates ingredients would start going bad.
-I have been getting into hiking much more in the last few years. This really bloomed during my cross country hike and hope to make outdoor therapy a professional outlet as well as an interest.
-I grew up on a small non-commercial farm in central California and have been around gardening my whole life. While I did not end up getting into the farming business, I have retained a love for gardening. Nothing beats the fresh flavor of newly picked produce, and the process of growing food from scratch is immensely rewarding.

音乐、电影和书籍

Big fan of science fiction and historical fiction / non-fiction. I enjoy the search for the other, whether that would be a historical counterfactual or a far away world.
Daniel Quinn's 'Ishmael' helped teach me humility. Joseph Heller's 'catch-22' helped teach me to have a sense of humor at the absurdity we find in life. 'A Canticle for Liebowitz' taught me perseverance in the face of nuclear war. Frank Herbert's 'Dune' taught me to walk without rhythm, so I don't attract the worm.
My musical taste is as eclectic as anyone with pandora these days; particularly concientious hiphop and most anything i can move my body to.
I like my movies serious. Children of men, Blade runner, Big Fish, Spinal Tap are some of my go to's.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Walked across the United States (CA-DE) in 2017. Over the course of 6 months 11 days and roughly 3500 miles I had the chance to meet some truly amazing people and see the world in an intimate way that moving at 2 mph can really provide. I followed this up with a bike tour back home along the southern gulf and southwestern deserts of the US.

教,学,和分享

If you just keep walking, you will find your path sooner than you might expect.
