À propos de moi
CURRENT MISSION
to make a positive impact on the world
ABOUT ME
I just moved to DC from San Francisco. I thirst for new adventures. I taught English in China for a year before grad school. I almost died in Cambodia like five different ways. I had a life-changing experience in Thailand. In Vietnam, we got kicked out of a club by the local Mafia for dancing with their girlfriends. I am enamored with Shanghai & Tokyo because I love the big city. I was in Asia during both 9/11 and the Tsunami. I am a leader, not a follower. I was President of the student body at my law school. I was elected as a Delegate for Obama from SF and I sat on the floor of the Convention. I met a lot of celebs there like Will.I.Am and Danny Glover. I created a website called Ohana Obama and made a video with my mother that remains the highlight of my campaign experience. I was a fat dorky loser in high school with no social skills (think napoleon dynamite) and I never even kissed a girl until junior year of college. I forced myself out of depression and pushed myself to become who I am today. Some people are naturally charismatic or interesting but I worked hard to get here and that makes me stronger, wiser and humbler (I'm the most modest guy I know!). I am a positive person and I like to inspire others. I don't like haters or negative people. (If I hate on haters, does that make me a hater?) Life is short, so there's no time to waste. I must celebrate and explore the world. I must always learn more about myself. I must be remembered well.
PHILOSOPHY
I must use the opportunities I am given to help those less fortunate. I must make a great impact on the world. see my website at www.bwang.org
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've heard a lot about this community and figured I should finally check it out!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couch-surfed across America in 2009 when I made cross-country road trip from San Francisco to Washington, DC
Centres d'intérêt
I enjoy acting and the creative arts. My first role was a samurai who had to commit ritual seppuku (disembowelment) and I almost sliced my friend's head off during a performance. My favorite role was a Tiger in a collection of Korean folktales (being a bad guy is SO much fun). I like going to the theatre, opera, ballet, etc... but I would rather be onstage than watching.
Recently, I got involved in the spoken word / poetry community out here in DC. I do storytelling through rhyme, action, music, etc... Performed at a few open mikes at Busboys and Poets in U Street and am currently working on my one-man-show.
I have many dreams and I am confident that I will achieve them. I will teach for a major educational institution. I will be a CEO or Executive Director of a business/nonprofit. I will serve at the United Nations and promote peace and development on a global scale. I will be a nationally recognized artist. I will fly into outer space someday (maybe just my ashes but who knows?).

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
I landed in Thailand the day after the Tsunami struck and I took a train & bus to Phuket (the airport was still shutdown) where I volunteered with the first-response disaster relief teams. I performed grief counseling, search-and-rescue operations, aid delivery and corpse handling. I met some incredible Thai people and foreign volunteers who inspire me to this day and I saw the beautiful essence of humanity. It was the most impactful experience of my life and I reflect upon it frequently.
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
I taught English in China and was a tutor for children with autism. I also tutor Bar Exam students and LSAT for law school applicants. I've trained people how to ride motorcycles. I can give plenty of free advice on starting nonprofits, building websites, hosting events, political organizing and theatrical acting. I am especially interested in providing help to other minorities, but what matters most is that you use the knowledge I share for good and not evil. I still have a lot to learn and am always looking to increase my knowledge.
