ABOUT ME

I finished my A-Levels in 2008 in French, English, Sociology and Drama, and went on a gap year before university. I went to Nepal for two months, teaching English in a monastery and travelling, and I absolutely loved it, and I recently went back there to do the same thing again. I went to France aswell for three months, studying French and getting work experience, and I loved every minute! I just finished my first year at Leeds University studying French and English, it's an amazing city and I can't wait for my second year. During the summer, I try to travel, but this year I'm grounded in the UK do to a lack of funds!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

During the school holidays, I have a couch in my parents' house, and during University term time, I'll have a couch in Leeds.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only just been introduced to the concept by staying with some very nice people in Marmande, France, during the 2009 Garorock Festival. They made us some crepes and tea, and I thought it was an awsome way to meet new, local people. I stayed with Robert in Berlin with my sister last summer while interrailling, and had an amazing experience. I'll be hosting my first surfers soon, Ffestiniog apparently doesn't attract many people!

Interests

I loooove drama and music. I was a member of a drama school and choir for 8 years and had lots of good experiences travelling around with them, competeing and generally having fun. (any one watched Last Choir Standing on BBC? :) ) At the moment, I'm planning my summer, trying to squeeze in as many things as I can, on the smallest budget ever. I'm interested in languages, and have just started learning Spanish. I'd love to learn more soon.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite book ever is Cysgod y Cryman. But i generally read anything that i get my hands on... Recently it's been The Time Traveller's Wife and Picture of Dorian Gray.

I don't really have a favourite band. Ben Harper, Kooks, Beatles, Libertines and Regina Spektor would be pretty high up though, but I tend to judge by the song more than the artist.

I love LOTR, Green Mile, Pulp Fiction, Beautiful Mind. But there are so many films I want to watch!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in a monastery in Bouddha, kathmandu with 60 little monks... That was really amazing! You'd think it would be really peaceful and quiet, but actually it's probably the noisiest place ever! Bells go off at 5am, and from then till 9pm it's non stop chanting! When I came home, I found my house strangely quiet!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach- Welsh (words, songs, stories, anything!)
Learn- Any language you have to offer. And I'd love to learn to play the guitar... but i've been saying that for years, and I'm no better!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Morocco, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

France, Nepal, United Kingdom
