About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"Love each other steadily and unselfishly, because love makes up for many faults. Show hospitality to each other without complaint. Use whatever you’ve received for the good of one another."
ABOUT US
Lynn and I are a pretty normal married couple in our early 50s (ouch, hurts to make that edit). Normal being relative, of course. We look and act younger than our years.
COUCHSURFING PHILOSOPHY
Because we are very experienced surfers/hosts with a well-located home, we get far more requests than we can accommodate and still maintain some kind of private life, so we are very selective in who we choose to host.
We participate in CS because we love meeting interesting people and having meaningful cross-cultural experiences, not as a cheap way to travel. If this is not your philosophy also and that isn't apparent from your profile and your request message, your request is unlikely to be accepted. Please show us that you have read our profile and have a reason why we should want to meet you! We love fascinating people who are doing interesting things with their lives, and are willing to bend over backwards for those we are dying to meet.
Not to be a jerk, but requests that are almost sure to be declined:
1. "Yo, what up?" (Seriously, I'm not making that up. That was the request...)
2. "I'm coming to Houston for [event X] and just need a place to crash." (Please figure the cost of accommodations into your plans...)
3. "I will be passing through Houston on my way to..." (We'll wave nicely at your tail lights as you pass...)
4. "Sorry for the late notice, but are you available tonight?" (Especially when sent at like 9:30p.m. Lack of planning your part etc...)
5. "I'm coming to America to study [Subject X] at [Institution Y] and need somewhere to live." (I appreciate your situation and applaud your initiative, but that's not what CS is for...)
