About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world through the eyes of others and eat! Food is very important

ABOUT ME

I just discovered Couch Surfing, but the idea of it and the mission have been in my heart for some time. I’m in my thirties, do a fair amount of traveling and always love the aspect of meeting new and interesting people wherever I roam.

I've been here in New Haven for almost 3 years now and it is a great place to live—small and walkable, yet offering tons of great art, music, food and culture. The pizza alone here will blow your mind.

I write and edit ad copy for a living and teach Brazilian jiu jitsu. Besides food, jiu jitsu is truly my passion in life and where most of my free time is spent. I actually see a lot of similarities between the art and Couch Surfing, as jiu jitsu is a great way to make friends and connect with people from all walks of life. It's a physical and spiritual chess game and it really teaches you how to manage relationships.

I love music and play tenor sax in a reggae band here called The Soul Merchants, we play a couple times a month and have a great time. My girlfriend and I also enjoy going on food adventures to new places and I’m always up to try new things and expose people to some of my favorites around here. Let’s eat!

PHILOSOPHY

The future is unwritten...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'll do my best to help expose new friends to the great things happening here in New Haven. Especially looking forward to some culinary adventures!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We lived with a family in Cusco Peru for 3 weeks this past summer exposing me to a world of amazing food and expierieces the average tourist would never get.

Now I want to do the same!

Music, Movies, and Books

Man, what a tough question. As far as books… my all-time favorite writers are John Fante, Kurt Vonnegut and Amy Hempel—she is the master of the short story. I'm always looking for recommendations though.
As far as music goes...lots of old Punk, Reggae, Hardcore, Metal, Jazz, Indie rock and of course Soul...gotta have me some Otis Redding, Jackie Wilson and Sam Cooke—I think "Night Beat" is one of the greatest records ever made.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The view from the top of Huayna Picchu was the most breath taking thing I have ever seen.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Japan, Peru, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Viet Nam
