About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Laugh, learn, cry and create

ABOUT ME

I will soon be attending naturopathic school. After years working with fish, this is a new direction I am taking with my life and I'm excited! Also, I'm a bit worried since I haven't spent more than 2 years in any given place since I was in college. Give it up for putting down roots for the first time!

PHILOSOPHY

I know it's cheesy but I try to live by Ghandi's words "be the change you wish to see in the world."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Admittedly I have been a bit finicky with my participation. I love the idea of CS and have loved everyone I've met through CS. Unfortunately, my lifestyle hasn't ever allowed me to host, largely because I have never had a place to call my own. Since college I have lived in bunkhouses, camping in the field or hostels/hotels. I plan to host once I settle into naturopathic school.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In Burma I spent a few days with a woman I met via CS. It was a wonderful opportunity to travel a place that was knew to both of us, knowing we had a bit in common already.

Interests

Living an environmentally conscious life. Sustainable farming. Real food. Simplicity. The oceans. Ashtanga yoga. Biking. Soon to be immersed in natural medicine.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Female artists, mostly (though not exclusively)
Movies: The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Fight Club, Beauty and the Beast
Books: I've been reading a lot of non-fiction lately. Love the authors Natalie Angier and Mary Roach. Both are hilarious, beautiful poets of science. My bible is "The Encyclopedia of Country Living"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived for 3 months with amazing Burmese women in Thailand where I taught them English. I learned so much from them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have vast opinions on SE Asia, sustainable food production and the state of US fisheries. I have a wee bit of knowledge in these areas as well. There is so much I want to learn! Most recently I've been drawn to foraging, farming, DIY anything (ie getting down to basics).

Countries I’ve Visited

Brunei Darussalam, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Philippines, United States
